Frequently Asked Questions
"We understand you might have questions about our services, or acupuncture. This FAQ page is designed to address the most common inquiries. If you don't find your answer here, please don't hesitate to contact us."
1. Do you accept insurance?
I am not currently in-network with any insurance companies. However, I provide an itemized receipt (also known as a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement if your plan includes acupuncture benefits. Since coverage varies by provider and plan, I recommend checking with your insurance company to understand your specific benefits. I’m happy to answer any questions and provide the necessary documentation to support your submission.
2. Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture is generally very comfortable! The needles used are extremely thin—much finer than those used for injections. Most people feel little to no discomfort when they are inserted, and many describe a sensation of warmth, tingling, or a gentle pressure. Many clients even find the experience deeply relaxing and restorative.
4. What conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture is recognized for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, digestive disorders, stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, hormonal imbalances, and more. It can also support the immune system, aid in injury recovery, and complement other medical treatments for enhanced healing. If you’re wondering whether acupuncture is right for you, we’d be happy to discuss your specific needs.
5. How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies from person to person based on individual health concerns, how long you’ve had the condition, and your body’s response to acupuncture. Some people feel relief after just one session, while others with chronic conditions may need multiple treatments to achieve lasting results. We will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
6. Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, acupuncture is very safe when performed by a trained and licensed professional. We use sterile, single-use needles and follow strict hygiene protocols to ensure your safety. Because acupuncture is a natural and drug-free approach, it has very few side effects—most commonly, a sense of deep relaxation and well-being after treatment.
7. What should I expect during my first acupuncture session?
During your first visit, we’ll take the time to discuss your health history, lifestyle, and specific concerns. After this, you’ll receive an acupuncture treatment where ultra-thin needles are gently inserted at carefully selected points. The treatment itself is very relaxing, often approximately 30 minutes. Many clients leave feeling refreshed, balanced, and deeply at ease.
8. What should I do before and after my acupuncture treatment?
Before your session, it’s best to eat a light meal and stay hydrated. Avoid caffeine right before your appointment if possible, as it may make it harder to relax. After treatment, take some time to rest and allow your body to integrate the healing effects. Drinking plenty of water and avoiding strenuous activity for a few hours can help maximize the benefits of your session.
